Share

Two Bulldog golfers, each shooting 77, just made the cut after Day 1 of the San Diego Section CIF tournament to advance to Day 2 of the competitive tournament at Admiral Baker Golf Course May 17 and 19.

“This year the San Diego Section had record scoring by individuals and teams,” said coach Michael Gainey. “It shows how competitive junior golf is in Southern California.

Ramona’s Thomas Andrews and Cameron Marshall remained pretty consistent in Day 2 with Marshall shooting a 78 for a combined total of 155, and Andrews posting a 79 for a 156 total in the two 18-hole rounds.

Torrey Pines junior Kaiwen Liu won the CIF championship, breaking the San Diego Section boys golf record by four shots with a 14-under-par 130. Gainey said there were about 20 players who shot under-par tournament rounds.

Bulldog teammates shot in the 80s on the tournament’s first day: Serop Matoian, 81; Justin Graf, 83; and David Hall, 84.
