Elliott Pond owner to hold public meeting on proposed plans

Jim Hagey, owner of Elliott Pond and surrounding property on Ramona Street, will be holding an informal public town meeting Saturday to discuss his plans for the property and a proposed zoning change, according to a post on the Ramona Community Forum Facebook page.

The May 14 meeting will begin at 3 p.m. at Ramona Library, 1275 Main St. Hagey’s approximate 20 acres is behind Stater Bros. shopping center. Ideas he has proposed in the past included creating a town square around the pond with shops and restaurants, and a possible big box store on the southern portion.

Hagey said in the Facebook post “My main question has always been, what does Ramona need and want most?”

The property has residential zoning, but Hagey would like it included in the Ramona Village Center Form-Based Code boundaries, which would give him mixed-use zoning for retail and residential.

The Ramona Village Design Group is in the process of updating the town’s form-based code and proposing to include Hagey’s property.
