Fire department invites community to May 7 open house
Ramona Fire Department invites the public to its annual open house at Station 80, 829 San Vicente Road, Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
At the free event will be games for children, displays of fire apparatus and information on fire prevention and preparedness.
The fire department typically held its annual open house in October during Fire Prevention Week, but because many other fire departments also held their open houses that week, it was often difficult to obtain equipment for the event, said Battalion Chief Steve Foster.
This year, he said, Ramona Fire Department chose May 7 in conjunction with Wildland Fire Preparedness Week, and the theme will be geared to making sure residents are prepared to the upcoming fire season. Available information will cover such topics as defensible space, smoke detectors and escape plans, he said.
“We hope to see the public out there on May 7,” said Foster.
