Update: A 48-year-old female driver of a Dodge Caliber was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and felony hit and run after fleeing the scene of a collision in San Diego Country Estates this morning, reported the California Highway Patrol.

Around 7 a.m. the driver of the Dodge was traveling eastbound and the driver of a silver Mercedes Benz was heading westbound on Ramona Oaks Road, both approaching Daza Drive, said CHP Officer Benjamin Demarest. The driver of the Dodge began to make a left turn into Daza Drive as the Mercedes was approaching the right of way, he said, and the two vehicles collided. The Dodge sustained major damage to the passenger side of the vehicle while the Mercedes had major front end damage, he said.

The driver of the Dodge fled the scene but was detained a short distance away by law enforcement, said Demarest.

The CHP officer said the driver of the Mercedes, a 54-year-old woman, complained of head and neck pain. Both drivers were from Ramona and the sole occupants in their vehicles, according to the report.
