A 58-year-old Lakeside man was killed around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday afternoon in a collision involving three vehicles on Wildcat Canyon Road, reported the California Highway Patrol.

The victim was riding a 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on Wildcat Canyon Road, south of Muth Valley Road, behind a 2014 Nissan Sentra driven by a 36-year-old man from Ramona, the report stated. The motorcyclist attempted to pass the Nissan over solid double yellow lines and the right side of the motorcycle struck the left side of the Nissan, said the CHP. The motorcycle veered to the left and struck the dirt embankment. The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and ended up in the southbound lanes directly in the path of travel of a 2013 International truck, driven by a 48-year-old Vista man, according to the report.

The CHP said the truck driver had no time to take evasive action and struck the rider, who died at the scene from injuries sustained from the collision. The other two drivers were uninjured, and alcohol and/or drugs were a factor, said CHP.
