Update: April 11: The county Medical Examiner’s office has identified Sharon Ruth Blodgett, 79, of Ramona, as the victim in the April 7 fatality at San Vicente Road and Green Haven Lane.

Update: 2 p.m. Thursday: A 79-year-old Ramona woman was killed around 10 a.m. Thursday in a two-vehicle collision at San Vicente Road and Green Haven Lane, officials reported.

According to California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a Toyota Camry northbound on Green Haven Lane. While attempting to make a left turn onto San Vicente Road, she failed to observe a Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling eastbound on San Vicente Road at 45 mph and the Toyota ended up directly in the Ford’s path of travel, said CHP Officer Kevin Pearlstein. The driver of the Ford, a 64-year-old man from Ramona, had no time to perceive and react, he said.

“This caused a broadside collision between these two vehicles,” the officer stated in a news release.

After the initial impact, the Toyota struck a parked Ford E-150 van, said Pearlstein. Due to the force of the impact, the woman succumbed to her injuries and died at the scene, he said.

No other injuries were reported and alcohol or drugs were not factors, reported CHP.
