Standing at a table and sipping beverages during Ramona Chamber of Commerce’s September Nite Saturday evening, Robert Krysak and Charlotte Jensen agreed the chamber’s first Taste of Ramona was wonderful.

“It was a real success,” said Jensen, chamber director and event chair, estimating that more than 100 people participated in the four-hour event Saturday afternoon.

Krysak, chamber president, said the restaurants “went above and beyond,” offering more than just a taste of their food. He admitted he was full after going to only seven of the 20 restaurants.

“The food was magnificent,” he added.

Restaurateurs told Jensen and Krysak they had a steady flow of tasters and were never overwhelmed.

Comments from the restaurants were extremely positive, said Jensen, citing a comment from one restaurant employee that

“All the Ramona restaurants should have done this.

The $25 Taste of Ramona ticket was well worth it, said Jensen. Some of the tastings were at least a $10 value, she said.

The chamber event started with the Taste of Ramona from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and ended with September Nite from 5 to 10 p.m. Live music from two bands provided an opportunity to “dance under the stars” in the evening while they sampled local wines, offerings from the beer garden and barbecue food. Classic car owners lined a few of their vehicles at one end of the property.

Admission to September Nite was free for those with a Taste of Ramona ticket and $5 for others.
