Weather breaks for Ramona Rodeo, Main Street Parade

Share

Rain that started yesterday ended this afternoon, with no additional precipitation expected for tonight’s Ramona Rodeo and tomorrow’s Main Street Parade.

Ramona received .32 inches of rain between yesterday and today, according to the National Weather Service at Ramona Airport. The storm, which left 2 inches of rain in Lake Cuyamaca, was expected to move east out of the region tonight, making way for fair but cool weekend weather marked by some night and morning low clouds west of the mountains, according to forecasters.

The 35th annual Ramona Rodeo will get under way tonight at 8 in the Fred Grand Arena, 421 Aqua Lane. Shows also will be Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m.

The Main Street Parade on Saturday is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. and go along Main from 13th to Fifth streets.

Two antique tractor clubs, the U.S. Submarine Veterans float, the award-winning One Arm Bandit rodeo specialty act, the Honeycutts, the Rainbow Riders, Ramona Rodeo Queen Brittney Phillips, lots of rodeo queens and princesses, and, new this year, skateboarders to draw attention to the Ramona Skatepark Champions are among parade entries.

State Sen. Joel Anderson is this year’s parade grand marshal.
