The Falcon Relays meet at Torrey Pines High School on Saturday consisted primarily of relay races but also included some individual events. In the boys discus throw, Ramona junior Connor Anderson had a throw of 150 feet 9 inches to take first place among athletes from Division II schools.

Anderson added a third-place shot put throw of 45 feet 8 inches.

“He’s quite the competitor,” said Sherri Edwards, head coach of Ramona High’s boys team and girls squad.

The Bulldogs, whose first home dual meet of the season will be Thursday afternoon against Escondido and who will travel to Mount Carmel High School for Saturday’s Sundevil Invitational, had only the Falcon Relays and no dual meet in the past week.

In the girls 100-meter hurdles, sophomore Morgann Wilson had a time of 16.77 seconds, which placed second among Division II hurdlers and was a personal record.

“Morgann Wilson did really well,” Edwards said.

The Ramona boys and girls took second among Division II schools in the junior varsity sprint medley, which opened with two 100-meter segments, continued with the third runner holding the baton for 200 meters, and was anchored by a 400-meter leg. Caleb Berman, Chris Steingraber, Glen Morgan and Kyle McLoughlin completed the boys race in 1:44.9.

The girls time of 2:05.2 was posted by Natalie Carey, Kyla Dugan, Ally Luna, and Diana Turvey.

“That was really exciting,” Edwards said.

Ramona’s 4x400 varsity girls team of Tuesday Christopher, Katherine Lorentz, Rayna Valade and Emily Sojourner also earned second place; their time was 4:12.4. Christopher, Wilson, Lorentz and Jenny Rivera had a third-place time of 1:53.2 in the 4x200 relay.

The varsity 4x100 quartet of Lorentz, Wilson, Christopher and Rivera finished sixth with a time of 52.90 seconds. Carey, Dugan, Luna and Turvey took third place in the junior varsity 4x100 and posted a time of 57.09 seconds.

Although Ramona’s boys did not compete in the varsity 4x100 relay, McLoughlin, Steingraber, Morgan and Berman finished third in the JV race with a close-to-varsity time of 48.46 seconds.

“That was nice to see the boys JV do well,” Edwards said.

The Falcon Relays meet has a shuttle hurdles relay race involving two hurdlers on each side. Ramona’s boys and the Bulldog girls each had third-place finishes. Keyshaun Crichlow, Ian Cirillo, Eddie Saucedo and Wyatt Scott had a time of 1:13.90 in the boys race involving 110-meter legs.

The girls race with 100-meter distances was run by Sojourner, Brittany Poler Hannah Gill, and Wilson, whose time was 1:13.22.

Danny Edwards had a long jump of 19 feet 3 1/2 inches to earn fourth place in that boys event. In the individual girls 100-meter hurdles race Sojourner was fifth at 52.31 seconds and Valade finished sixth with a time of 53.78 seconds. Scott was fifth in the boys 110-meter hurdles race, which he completed in 17.64 seconds.

Jeffry Guthrie had a fifth-place boys triple jump distance of 37’0”. Montgomery Cowlbeck cleared 12’9” to share sixth place in the boys pole vault while Kim Klarer tied for sixth in the girls pole vault with a height of 9’3”.

In the boys 800-meter race James Meskell set a personal record of 2:04.47 while finishing seventh.

Two varsity boys relay teams finished seventh. Guthrie, Scott, Cirillo, and Edwards had a 4x200 time of 1:40.1. Joey Jauregui, Colin McNulty, Jackson Sutter, and Eder Landgrave completed the 4x800 race in 8:37.8.
