The public has an opportunity to learn calligraphy and origami as well as participate in street art painting during the 24-hour Back Country Art-a-Thon at Ramona High School from 7 p.m. on Friday, March 20, to 7 p.m. Saturday.

Staged by the Ramona High School Art Guild and teacher Liz Schaude’s advanced art students during Arts Education Month, the event also will feature student and professional artists working together and a Student and Pro Art Exhibit. The art exhibit will be in room C-19 all day Saturday, and a Street Art project designed by Erik Meza from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Face painting, “make and take” art, and artist trading cards are among other activities planned.

A goal of the event is “to open people up to the excitement of art and being able to express themselves visually,” said Schaude.
