Storm leaves 1.48 inches of rain in Ramona

During a 72-hour period that ended Monday afternoon, a late-winter storm left 1.48 inches of rain and a brief dash of hail in Ramona and brought snow to higher elevations.

Over the weekend and on Monday, the National Weather Service advised mountain travelers to carry tire chains, extra food and clothing due to hazardous road conditions.

Lake Cuyamaca received 2.58 inches of precipitation; Henshaw Dam, 2.39; Julian, 2.12; and Warner Springs, 2.02, the weather service reported.

A foot and a half of snow accumulated on Palomar Mountain, and 8 inches blanketed Mount Laguna.
