Firefighters extinguish brush fire near SR-67 and Slaughterhouse Canyon Road

Update: CHP canceled its SigAlert as of 2:17 p.m.

Update: The number 2 northbound lane of state Route 67 at Slaughterhouse Canyon Road will be closed until around 11:45 a.m., reports California Highway Patrol, as firefighters clean up after a three-acre brush fire.

Update: Cal Fire reports that it is holding the brush fire, dubbed “Sycamore” fire, near state Route 67 and Slaughterhouse Canyon Road in Lakeside, to three acres.

One lane of northbound state Route 67 near Slaughterhouse Canyon Road in Lakeside is closed as firefighters battle a brush fire, according to Caltrans.

Cal Fire reports that the fire has grown to three acres with a medium rate of speed and no structure threat.

The fire was reported shortly after 9 a.m. on the hillside in that area, according to California Highway Patrol.
