Firefighters stop Highland Valley brush fire at 2 acres

Firefighters have contained a brush fire near Salida Del Sol and Highland Valley roads. They battled the fire from the ground and air, officials report.

According to the California Highway Patrol website, report of the fire came at 12:16 p.m. today.

Cal Fire/Ramona Fire Department Capt. Bert Ramirez reported at 12:43 p.m. that firefighters were holding the fire at two acres. It had been traveling west and had threatened four structures, CHP reported.

The fire started at 16376 Salida Del Sol. Officials are investigating its origin, but the cause likely was accidental, said Ramirez.
