Ramona Unified School District continues to provide free lunches to ALL children in the community ages 1 to 18 at Ramona Elementary School through July 24.

Money for the free lunches comes from the federal government through the Summer Food Service Program.

Children do not have to be enrolled in the school district to participate in this program. No income qualifications, no enrollment and no paperwork are involved.

Lunch will be served to the public from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Program regulations require meals must be consumed on the premises, and only one meal per child is allowed per day.

Meals meet the same nutritional guidelines as during the school year, and there is an emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables. A minimum of five entrée choices are offered daily, including deli sandwiches and salads.

The menu can be viewed online on the district’s website at www.ramonausd.net. All children must take a serving of fruit or vegetable.

Adults may purchase a meal for $3.50.

Meals include a lean protein item, grains, milk, fruits and vegetables.

All grain products offered are whole grain rich, and fat free white and chocolate milk are available.

“With the cost of food these days, this is a great opportunity for families to save a little on their food budgets this summer and get a nutritious meal in a friendly environment,” said Kati Harbour, director of the district’s Food and Nutrition Services.
