Deputies arrested a man suspected of misdemeanor domestic violence after a house fire at 120 N. Hunter St. Sunday morning, sheriff’s Sgt. Andrew Mowins said on Monday.

Ramona Fire Department received the report of the structure fire at 7:22 a.m. July 5. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke from the rear and center of the single-family dwelling.

Cal Fire Capt. Chris Matthews with the Ramona Fire Department reported that the fire started in a bedroom and quickly spread throughout the home, and firefighters had it contained by 7:45 a.m. They stopped the fire before it reached the garage.

The fire caused $200,000 damage to the home, said Matthews. Paramedics treated two people at the scene, and deputies transported one of those injured to a hospital.

American Red Cross was called to assist when officials deemed the home uninhabitable.

San Diego County Sheriff’s Bomb and Arson is leading the investigation of the cause of the fire, the fire department reported.
