Update: Ramona/Julian Academy of Dance said it will temporarily be holding summer classes at 709 Main St. in the location of the former ISIS Fuller Figure Fashion store.

Ramona/Julian Academy of Dance (RJAD) is cleaning up from damages caused by Tuesday afternoon’s sudden downpour, and looking for a temporary site for classes while the studio is repaired.

Summer classes begin Monday.

The dance studio at 1530 Main St., is in a building housing various businesses that was in the process of being re-roofed, according to RJAD. The rain caused some of the ceiling panels to cave in and damage floors, including a Marley floor used for ballet and wood floors, as well as office computers, phones and the copier, the dance studio reported.

Crews from Servpro of East Poway and Ramona were working on the cleanup on Wednesday. Other businesses in the strip center were also closed, posting signs that they had flooding damage.

Tuesday’s downpour unleashed .22 of an inch of rain on Ramona, and also led to downed power lines on Dye Road.

Just over 1,000 San Diego Gas & Electric customers were without power after a power pole was damaged during the thunderstorm, around 2:25 p.m., on Dye Road near Southern Oak Road. SDG&E could not confirm that the pole was struck by lightning but a spokesperson said the arm of the pole that holds the power lines broke. Lines were down on part of the roadway, causing that portion of Dye Road to be closed until crews could make repairs.

SDG&E said the entire pole had to be replaced. Power was restored to 995 customers by 4:15 p.m. and the remainder by 5:19 a.m. Wednesday, according to SDG&E.
