Community paper marks 129th year

Share

As Ramona Sentinel starts its 129th year with this issue, we’re reminded that the community newspaper belongs to the community.

Owners, editors, reporters and photographers come and go, but this publication remains. The Sentinel has been an institution for 128 years, longer than any of us have been alive, and we wish her continued success in carrying on her proud tradition of conveying the news and how it affects those of us who live here.

The Sentinel is part of what makes us a community. It shares everything from election results to high school sports scores, and it gives readers a place to share their opinion of what’s happening in town and beyond.

We who work at the Sentinel cherish our time here and strive to be good stewards of a publication that has stood with the community through good times and bad, through celebrations and tragedies.

As we start another year, we vow to continue serving the community and, as always, welcome suggestions on how to make this 129-year-old institution even better.

Growing old isn’t in the cards for the Sentinel, which recently upgraded its website and works with enthusiasm to keep readers up to date via Facebook and Twitter between its weekly editions.
