County to introduce proposed changes to stormwater regulations

Share

The County of San Diego will hold a public meeting from 10 a.m. to noon Friday to introduce and gather public opinion about proposed changes to the county’s Watershed Protection Ordinance.

The meeting will be in the County Operations Center at 5520 Overland Ave.

County supervisors will consider making changes to the ordinance this spring. Friday’s meeting will give the public the opportunity to hear more about the proposed changes from the Department of Public Works and weigh in on those updates.

The amendments being proposed to the ordinance include new requirements for unincorporated residents, businesses and industry. They are intended to reduce pollution that flows through storm drains and other systems to waterways and the ocean, according to a county announcement of the meeting on Friday.

The changes are being proposed to comply with the regional municipal stormwater permit issued by the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board in 2013.

Friday’s meeting will be held in the Chambers Hearing Room at the County Operations Center. The draft ordinance can be viewed at www.ProjectCleanWater.org.
