San Diego County Library kicks off its annual Summer Reading Challenge a bit early with an art contest for all ages.

The contest runs Feb. 1 through March 15 and encourages all ages to illustrate to this year’s Summer Reading theme: Read to the Rhythm.

How does music inspire you? Do you experience music at the library by singing at storytime, attending concerts or reading about your favorite rock star?

The first, second and third place winners in three age groups (child, teen and adult) will receive a gift card and be featured on the library’s website. First place winners will be featured on bookmarks that will be distributed countywide this summer.

All entries must include a submission form, available at any County Library branch or online at www.sdcl.org. Submitted artwork must be on an 8½ by 11 sheet of paper and dropped off at any County Library location by March 15.

Contest winners will be announced in April.

For more information, visit www.sdcl.org or contact your Ramona Library, 1275 Main St., 760-788-5270.
