Bar-B-Que Hoedown to feature rare display of Turkey Feather Costume Collection

Guests at Ramona Town Hall’s Bar-B-Que Hoedown will have the rare opportunity to see the late Mary Kay Pinkard’s Turkey Feather Costume Collection on Saturday.

The Aug. 29 event benefiting Town Hall restoration will be from 5 to 9 p.m. in the historic adobe building at 729 Main St. Advance reservations are $35 each, and the event is open to everyone age 21 and older.

Admission includes complimentary dinner, dancing, live music, contests, an auction, Ramona Community Singers, Sunny Side Strings Band and other entertainment. No host beer and local wines will be available.

On display will be the late Mary Kay Pinkard’s collection of turkey feather dresses and other apparel. The collection dates to a part of Ramona’s past when the town had the reputation of being the Turkey Capital of the World.
