When Shannon Singleton, daughter of Byron and Stephanie Singleton, was chosen as 2015 Miss Ramona Saturday night, she became the first winner in pageant history to have also worn the Teen Miss Ramona crown, according to pageant officials.

Shannon was Teen Miss Ramona in 2013.

Capturing the 2015 Teen Miss Ramona crown Saturday was Megan Kelly, daughter of Steve and Kimberly Kelly.

“Oh I’m so excited. I’m in tears, I’m so excited,” said Megan soon after being crowned.

Standing beside her, a beaming Shannon also expressed her elation.

“I’m very excited,” she said. “I feel extremely blessed to be the only, so far, Teen Miss Ramona in history to win back-to-back titles, so I’m very excited and ready for the challenge.”

Shannon is a junior at Classical Academy in Escondido. Megan is an eighth-grader at Olive Peirce Middle School.

Megan is not the only member of her family to wear a crown. Her mother, Kimberly, was 1992 Miss Lakeside and was crowned Fairest of the Fair at Del Mar Fair (now called San Diego County Fair), said Steve Kelly.

First Princesses were also crowned at the April 11 scholarship pageant.

Miss Ramona First Princess Shannon Huff brings past experience to the court as she served as Teen First princess last year.

Ciara Webb-Martin was selected 2015 Teen Miss First Princess and will serve on Megan’s court.

Crowning the winners were 2014 Miss Ramona Courtney Ford and Teen Miss Elizabeth Bowersox. Both received certificates of recognition from Assemblyman Brian Jones and from Senator Joel Anderson, and proclamations from county supervisors declaring April 11 Courtney Ford Day and Elizabeth Bowersox Day in the county.

Pageant Executive Director Jill Fleming noted the hundreds of hours the 2014 winners gave toward community service and said they helped raise $54,000 for area charities during their reigns.

Courtney plans on attending North Central College in Naperville, Ill. Elizabeth is a junior at Ramona High School.
