Wednesday power outages affect nearly 3,400

— SDG&E estimates power will be restored for nearly 3,000 customers by 5 p.m. today. Those residential and business customers are in portions of eastern, southern, and western Ramona, Ramona’s town center, Highland Valley, Iron Mountain and Barona. The weather has caused a problem in the electric system, states the utility on its website.

Wednesday, May 14, 9:50 a.m.

— For the second day in a row, San Diego Gas & Electric is reporting power outages throughout Ramona with one, affecting 377 customers, “initiated to protect public safety,” according to the utility’s website.

At 7:52 a.m. SDG&E shut off power in areas of eastern Ramona, San Diego Country Estates, La Jolla Indian Reservation, Mesa Grande and Santa Ysabel and plans to restore power by 10 p.m., the website states.

In addition, nearly 3,000 customers in areas of Highland Valley, southern, eastern and western Ramona, Barona and Iron Mountain lost power at 8:50 a.m. today. SDG&E states it is assessing that outage to determine the cause and estimates that power will be restored by 11:30 a.m. According to reports, power is also out at the Albertsons shopping center in Ramona’s village center as it was for part of the day on Tuesday.
