The Bulldog golf team is right where coach Michael Gainey wants it to be as the team heads into Valley League play.

“The Vista match was a good win for the team,” he said. “It was their lowest score so far and the players are stepping up their games as we head to Pauma Valley to play Valley Center next Tuesday for our first league match of the season.”

Ramona defeated Westview at San Vicente Wednesday and then beat Vista on the road the next day to improve to 6-1 on the season.

Kazar Matoian led the Dawgs in the 233-251 victory over Westview as he fired a 44 to earn medalist honors. Thomas Andrews was only a stroke behind Matoian with 45. The team grouped its scores well as Andrew Kaminsky shot 46 and Nick Elliott carded a 48. Jason Morton and Riley Hubbard turned in scores of 50.

The Bulldogs grouped their scores well in the 206-220 win over Vista at San Luis Rey Downs. Cody Anderson-Parks, Justin Graf and Jacob Buckley each carded a score of 40. Ryan Graf was one stroke back with a 41. Cameron Marshall shot 45 and Matoian posted a 50.
