Sheriff’s helicopter hoists injured woman from ravine
A 51-year-old woman was seriously injured when she was ejected from a vehicle that rolled over in the Boulder Creek area near Julian, a San Diego sheriff’s corporal reported.
The accident occurred at about 2:40 p.m. Sunday near Boulder Creek and Engineers roads, San Diego County sheriff’s Cpl. Tony Webber said.
“Sheriff’s Helicopter ASTREA 10 was requested for a hoist rescue,” Webber said.
ASTREA 1 also was requested, Webber said.
“ASTREA 1 was able to disembark a crew member to evaluate the four occupants of the vehicle,’’ Webber said. “One of the passengers, a 51-year-old female, was seriously injured when she was ejected from the vehicle. The victim was located in a very steep ravine which required her to be extracted via a hoist rescue.”
ASTREA 10 hoisted the woman to safety then took her to a fire station and a Mercy Air helicopter transported the injured woman to a hospital, he said.
