A 39-year-old Ramona man died Friday night, July 18, when his motorcycle collided with a car near Barona Resort & Casino, according to authorities.

James Oliver Gansch, a married father of two, was actively involved in the Ramona community and was a huge supporter of Ramona football, according to information posted on a fundraising account website page established by friends of the family.

Gansch was traveling to work on his 2004 motorcycle southbound on Wildcat Canyon Road when his vehicle collided with a 2003 BMW sedan around 9:25 p.m., the county Medical Examiner’s office reported.

The BMW driver was turning left onto Barona Road from the northbound lanes of Wildcat Canyon Road and the collision caused Gansch to be ejected from his motorcycle, stated the report.

Gansch died shortly after being transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Sandra, and children, Briana and Brandon.
