School trustee needs to resign

By Damon Baldwin

Upon reading another one of John Rajcic’s complaining, attacking opinions in the Sentinel, many of my fellow professional colleagues that work for RUSD got together to review his latest insult and attack on educators and RUSD in general. Yes, this is a school board member for RUSD who called educators, football coaches, and union rep leaders “parasites”....Yes “parasites”. (He may try to rationalize that his friend said what he wrote and had printed in the Sentinel—Are you serious?)

Last time I checked Webster’s Dictionary it says that “Parasites are organisms living on each other.” Well, let’s see. I could use this column like Rajcic has to slander and attack him, but I will not waste my time since, being a “parasite” for RUSD, I am way too busy trying to help kids and develop them for their futures.

Actually, for some weird reason this person was elected as a school board member by our community. Now I must say that I don’t think our community really knows this man. It really would make no difference if John Rajcic resigned his position and gave it to a person that will actually VOTE yes or no on a vote that influences our kids and town instead of being on the board to just cause tension, fights and make accusations.

SO.....

I sat down to type this while getting up at 5 a.m. to go educate over 150 “football players, basketball players, wrestlers, baseball players, track athletes, science students, math students, English students, fusion leaders, and others on this beautiful summer day.”

John Rajcic needs to do the right thing and resign his position as a school board member. He has no intention in making decisions that will help our children. He has no intentions in helping our school district improve itself, and this November, when our community has a huge decision to make, to decide not only where they want our schools to go. But our community and property values and small business success likely hangs on a Yes vote for the school bond. If this Mr. Rajcic continues to slander and publicly attack the people that work 80 hours a week in making our kids better people, then how is he a TEAM player. You see, Mr. Rajcic, in football, a player that is NOT a team player we try and teach them the importance of working together and overcoming obstacles when under duress.

I do not expect you to have a clue about what all of us do. In fact, after reading your articles I wonder if you have any pulse at all about what RUSD and its “parasites” actually do.

Since we are all parasites — at least we live on each other and are on one team — we have a fighting chance under tough circumstances to still make our children succeed. Since you are not a parasite, I do not expect you to understand anything I am writing here, but I do hope you do the right thing and resign your seat on the RUSD school board so that the children of Ramona have a chance to grow up in improved schools and programs.Parasites deserve team players and you certainly have no clue about what that is!
