County workshop Friday targets proposed changes to winery ordinance

Share

San Diego County Planning and Development Services will hold a workshop on Friday, Jan. 17, to discuss possible changes to the tiered winery ordinance.

Many winery owners in Ramona say they will attend and are against the proposed changes, which they say create more restrictions for boutique wineries.

Anyone planning to attend was asked to RSVP by Jan. 15 to Joe Farace at joseph.farace@sdcounty.ca.gov or

858-694-3690.

The workshop will begin at 10 a.m. in the public hearing chambers in the San Diego County Operations Center, 5520 Overland Ave., San Diego.

As part of its Zoning Ordinance Cleanup project, the county department is preparing proposed amendments to the tiered winery ordinance to clarify the intent of the ordinance and to resolve discrepancies with existing ordinance language, according to county staff.

Information gathered at the workshop will be evaluated and used to create final draft documents that will be presented to the county Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors for consideration at public hearings.

The draft ordinance is at
