San Diego County’s Department of Public Works anticipates it will seek construction bids for the San Vicente Road Improvement Project by early March and begin construction in September.

Once bids are received, the department will award a contract to the lowest bidder, probably in late spring, said Ron.

Construction will not begin until September, because crews have to wait until the bird breeding season ends, he noted. Construction is estimated to take 18 months.

The project is designed to widen and realign 2.25 miles of San Vicente Road from Warnock Drive to just east of the Wildcat Canyon Road intersection.

During construction, emergency access will be maintained, work will not conducted during peak commuter hours, and flagging will occur as needed, but delay times should not be longer than 15 minutes, according to the county.
