Wanted: Golfers for Cessna tournament to benefit schools

Share

R.D. “Dick” Cessna is alive, but he calls his group the Cessna Memorial Golf Club and he hosts tournaments to benefit others in the community.

R.D. Cessna & Associates will host a tournament at the Mt. Woodson Golf Club on Thursday, Jan. 15, to raise money for Ramona school repairs. Proceeds will go to Friends of Ramona Unified Schools (FORUS) projects at the schools.

FORUS, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2013, focuses on health and safety projects at the schools — no politics. The organization coordinates projects with the school district.

Entry in the four-man scramble is $125 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, cart and Closest to Pin, Longest Drive, a sit-down barbecue luncheon and cash awards for first-, second- and third-place winning groups. A silent auction, opportunity drawings and awards ceremony also will be held.

One of the auction items is a creation by Ramona artist Linda Kelly on a wine barrel donated by Jennifer Lane, owner of Pamo Valley Winery.

“We encourage players and welcome sponsors to help us raise funds for the students in our town,” said Thom Williams, tournament director and SBA specialist with R.D. Cessna & Associates. “Don’t miss out on this great event to help Ramona schools.”

The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. and is limited to 72 golfers. Tee and prize sponsors are welcome.

Todd McKinney is the tournament’s assistant director, and Mark Allen will MC the event.

To register, donate, join as a tee or prize sponsor or receive more information, contact Williams at 1130 D St. 760-789-6823 or thom@rdcessna.com.
