Pomegranate Days at Camel Dairy

By Regina Elling

It’s not often that most people have the chance to get up close and personal with camels, but for the many guests of Oasis

Camel Dairy’s recent Pomegranate Days, the event will not be soon forgotten. Approximately 700 people attended the two-day event.

Owned by Nancy and Gil Riegler, Oasis is one of the few camel dairies in the world.

Both Pomegranate Days were packed with activities, from feeding the camels to riding them, watching a bird show and a camel presentation, and camel souvenirs and concessions on the grounds. With 20 camels and a host of other exotic animals on the property, the guests were able to see the same animals that have appeared on commercials and television shows such as “Dirty Jobs,” “California Gold” and “Animal Planet.”

The Rieglers open Oasis Camel Dairy a few times a year for special events, and they host tours in the summer.
