Sheriff’s reports: Deputies arrest four living in creek bed on private property

Share

Sheriff’s deputies from the Ramona station arrested four people Aug. 6 who were living in the Santa Maria creek bed on private property near B and 11th streets, according to reports.

Lt. Hank Turner said the property owner had signed a “no trespass” letter with the sheriff’s department. Doing so lets the sheriff’s department know that anyone living in the creek bed on private property does not have the owner’s permission.

Arrested for disorderly conduct: lodge without consent were three males, ages 34, 37 and 32, and a 55-year-old female. Turner said they were living in a tent. The lieutenant pointed out that homelessness is not a crime but it is a crime to live on other people’s property.

In other news, deputies assisted California Highway Patrol around midnight, Aug. 4, when a horse was hit by a vehicle on San Vicente Road and Gem Lane. The horse was severely injured, said Turner, and a veterinarian was called out to the scene. The vet euthanized the horse, he said.
