Standing in front of the sheriff’s Ramona station at Main Street and Montecito Road on Aug. 5, Crime Prevention Specialist Barbara Wallace reminds the community that it’s the Sheriff’s Night Out Against Crime with a row of Burma Shave-type signs. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, which recognized the event across the county, said Night Out Against Crime is a day when communities take a stand to let criminals know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Two of Wallace’s signs say “Crime is low” and “Because you care.”Sentinel photo/Karen Brainard
