Red Flag Warning of critical fire weather conditions remains in effect until 6 p.m. today

Saturday, Sept. 28—

A fire blackened about 10 acres of brush near the Daley Ranch outside Dulzura today before firefighters stopped its spread, fire officials said.

The fire was on the south side of Campo Road, State Route 94, near Daley Ranch Truck Trail, about midway between Jamul and the Otay Lakes Road turnoff. It was reported about 12:20 p.m. and no structures were threatened, according to Cal Fire dispatchers.

Crews would likely remain on scene for several hours working to gain full containment and control of the fire. Its cause was under investigation, Cal Fire officials said.

Authorities temporarily closed the two-lane Route 94 between Otay Lakes Road and Jamul, and Campo Road traffic was detoured through Chula Vista via Otay Lakes Road. But the fire was burning away from the highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
