John Rathbun, coach of Ramona High girls golf, owes his team a dinner, but he is not complaining. He made a deal that if all five scoring rounds in a match were in the forties, he would buy the team a dinner. The team reached that goal on the road to fire a season-low 228.

“Girls WOW! What a great day! You have scored the lowest team score for the season and for my career! You also scored 5 out of 6 scores in the forties which got the team a dinner on Coach John!!” Rathbun stated in an email to his team.

Orange Glen only could field four golfers so they did not have a team score as the match was officially a forfeit.

“They only had four golfers but our five scores were actually lower than their four,” said an excited Caitlyn Doulgeropoulos who carded a 41 to earn medalist honors.

Kailey Hill fired a 43. Amanda Raines shot a career-low 47 and Shannon Curristan also had a career-low round with a 48.  Cheyenne Hockin  guaranteed the team meal with a round of 49. Bre Hirsh’s 54 was better than the low score for the Patriots.

The Bulldog girls also beat Valley Center by a score of 232-258. Lucy Conrad earned medalist honors by carding a 43. Maggie Barritt was only a shot behind Conrad with a 44. Cassidy Blankenbaker and Kayla Hemp also broke 50 by posting identical scores of 47. Jessa Brown shot 51 and Stephanie Kovach fired a 54. Jerry Patenaude coached the team.

“Winning by 26 strokes is big. Shooting a 232 is even bigger. The girls were just four strokes from a team meal on me. What a shame,” said Patenaude with a chuckle.
