Firefighters make quick work of grass fire in Ramona

Friday, Oct. 4—

Cal Fire/Ramona firefighters made quick work of a grass fire this afternoon, containing it to about one-third acre.

The fire at 18210 Dos Picos Park Road started when a worker clearing brush encountered a swarm of bees, was stung by one of them, and dropped a cigarette, said Cal Fire/Ramona Capt. Jose Ramirez with Station 82.

Firefighters received the call at 12:55 p.m. and had the fire contained in about an hour, Ramirez said. Four fire trucks with 11 Cal Fire firefighters and two San Diego County volunteer firefighters responded to the fire.

The worker was evaluated at the scene and did not require additional medical attention.
