SDG&E plans temporary closure at San Vicente and Wildcat Canyon Roads early Monday

To prepare for the county’s San Vicente Road Realignment project, San Diego Gas & Electric said it will periodically close that road’s intersection with Wildcat Canyon Road between 3 and 5 a.m. Monday, May 20.

Utility workers during that time will string wires across the road for pole relocation required for the road widening project, said SDG&E Public Information Officer Juanita Hayes.

“We don’t expect a lot of traffic,” Hayes said of the early morning hours. However, if traffic backs up during that two-hour period, she said the workers will stop to let vehicles through.

“If there are emergency vehicles, we stop everything,” said Hayes.

Contractors for SDG&E were working on the utility poles Friday at the intersection and in an area west of Barnett Ranch, where one lane was closed and traffic control was conducted.

Hayes said work will continue on Saturday but there will be no lane closures, and no work is planned for Sunday. No outages are planned due to pole relocation and the transferring of wires, she said.
