Smoke from Miramar brush clearing may be visible in area
Thursday, May 16—
Smoke and flames may be visible from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar today as military firefighters take part in a brush-clearing controlled burn.
The prescribed fire is scheduled to take place until 4 p.m. in the eastern reaches of the installation, south of Scripps Ranch, according to the base’s public-affairs office.
The burn, a method of reducing wildfire risks at and near the air
station, is not expected to create any visibility or air-quality problems in surrounding communities.
