Senior center marks 39th year

Ramona Senior Activity Center celebrates the 39th anniversary of its opening on Monday, May 20.

Seniors Empowering Seniors, a new feature at the center, is offered Fridays at 1 p.m. All are welcome.

The center at 434 Aqua Lane is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., except for legal holidays. Dinner-style meals are served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meals also are delivered to the homebound.

Menu for the Week

Thursday, May 16: Pork chops, stuffing and gravy, broccoli, applesauce.

Friday, May 17: Birthday lunch of oven fried chicken, mashed potatoes, California vegetables, cake, fresh apple.

Monday, May 20: Meatballs and gravy, rice, sliced carrots, Mandarin oranges.

Tuesday, May 21: Spaghetti with meat, breadsticks, winter mix vegetables, pears and salad.

Wednesday, May 22: Southwestern quiche, breakfast potatoes, sausage, salsa, tropical fruit.

Thursday, May 23: Taco bake, Mexican rice, beans, banana pudding.

Friday, May 24: Memorial Day lunch of cheeseburger, potato salad, pork and beans, watermelon.

Suggested lunch donation for seniors age 60 and older and for the homebound is $4. Transportation is $1. Lunch for a non-senior guest of a senior is $6. For reservations and more information, call 760-789-0440.

Tuesday, May 21: Walking group at 8 a.m., Quilting at 9 a.m., Computers at 10:30 a.m., Writing at 1 p.m. Legal assistance by appointment. Call 858-565-1392, extension 208.

Wednesday, May 22: Exercise at 9 a.m., Pinochle at 9 a.m., Bridge at 12:30 p.m.

Thursday, May 23: Bingo at 1 p.m.

Friday, May 24: Exercise at 9 a.m., Pinochle at 9 a.m., Pokeno at 1 p.m, Seniors Empowering Seniors at 1 p.m..

The pool table may be used any time except during Bargain Corner, and a Wii game is available.
