The Ramona High School boys golf team took third place in the North County Conference against other Valley League teams.

Day one of the tourney was held at Marine Memorial Golf Course at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside.

Jacob Buckley shot a respectable 79 on the par 76 course. Thomas Andrews carded a 90. Kazar Matoian shot 92, and Jason Morton turned in a 96. Andrew Kaminsky finished day one with a 99.

Day two of the NCC Tourney was held at Twin Oaks Golf Course in San Marcos. Buckley shot an even par 76. Andrews shaved seven strokes off his day one score to card an 83. Matoian improved by 10 strokes to shoot 82. Morton improved by seven strokes to turn in an 89, and Kaminsky improved by 15 strokes to shoot 84.

Buckley tied for first place among the Valley League players.

Ramona will open CIF team play as the No. 12 seed and will travel to Lomas Santa Fe Country Club to play Canyon Crest Academy in the play in round. A win will give the entire team a shot in the playoffs. If the team loses, only the individuals who qualify under the CIF differential cut line will get to advance.

“I was very happy with the improvement we showed on day two of the NCC tourney. Canyon Crest is a very good team and will be a test. If we play like we did on day two of the tourney, I like our chances,” said coach Jerry Patenaude.
