Pedestrian suffers non-life-threatening injuries from Main Street accident

A 16-year-old Ramona girl is in an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle as she walked across Main Street last night, reports California Highway Patrol.

The teen was crossing from the west side of Main heading toward McDonald’s when, according to witnesses, she crossed directly into the path of a northbound 2005 ES330, said CHP Officer Brian Pennings.

“The driver had little to no time to react,” said Pennings.

The teen, who suffered major head trauma, was unconscious and unresponsive and airlifted to the hospital, CHP reports.

The driver of the Lexus, Deborah McCarty, 52, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence, said Pennings.

The incident occurred at 7:48 p.m.
