The Ramona High School golf team went on the road and lost two non-league matches to Mt. Carmel and Steele Canyon.
“We played two of the toughest courses that we play all year and as a result, we had high scores for us,” explained coach Jerry Patenaude. “Despite the losses, Cody (Anderson-Parks), Ryan (Graf), and Thomas (Andrews) continued to play consistently well.”
Ramona opened the week at Carmel Highlands and lost to the Sundevils 206-323. Jason Morton carded the Bulldogs’ lowest score by shooting a 43 on the par 36 front nine as all five scores were in the forties. Kazar Matoian (45), Mike Smith (47), Mike Hall (48), and Ben Anderson-Parks (49) rounded out the scoring for the Dawgs.
“We have young golfers who haven’t played on the road before. They will adjust and adapt as they gain experience,” said Patenaude.
“We played much better in our rematch with Steele Canyon at Steele Canyon CC (Country Club). Ryan shot a 40 on a tough course,” Patenaude said.
Cody Anderson-Parks and Thomas Andrews each carded a 43. Matoian shot 45, Jacob Buckley turned in a 47, and Tanner Angel shot 48.
The Dawgs continue to prepare for Valley League action.
