SDG&E to start moving poles along San Vicente Road on Monday

Share

San Diego Gas & Electric is expected to begin work March 18 relocating utility poles along San Vicente Road between Warnock Drive and Deviney Lane, and from Chuck Wagon Road to just beyond Wildcat Canyon Road in Ramona.

The poles are being relocated for the planned San Vicente Road Improvement Project.

Traffic control is expected to occur daily during normal working hours with flagging localized at one pole location at a time. The pole relocation work is expected to take approximately four months.

“Every effort will be made to keep any traffic disruptions to a minimum,” said Steve Ron, County Department of Public Works project manager.

More than 90 accidents have occurred on San Vicente Road in the past several years, the county reports. The road improvement project, requested by the community and endorsed by the Ramona Community Planning Group, will improve road safety by reducing the number of curves and improving sight distance. Bike lanes and a multi-use pathway will also be constructed.

Construction is tentatively scheduled to start in fall 2013 and expected to take about 18 months to complete.
