A 45-year-old Ramona man died at Palomar Medical Center Monday, March 4, three days after he was involved in an accident in San Diego Country Estates, according to authorities.

Around 7 p.m. on Friday, March 1, Gregg Beason was driving a full-size Chevrolet pickup truck and made a turning movement from Matlin Road onto Ramona Oaks Road in front of a GMC pickup truck, said California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Brian Pennings. The officer said Beason failed to yield and was broad-sided by the other vehicle.

The County Medical Examiner reported that Beason had to be extricated from his vehicle. Pennings said Beason had major injuries and was flown by Mercy Air to Palomar Medical Center, where he died.

Beason and the driver of the other truck, also from Ramona, were the sole occupants in their vehicles, Pennings said. He did not have information on the other driver.
