Ramona Futbol Club brings Arsenal FC to the community
Ramona Futbol Club, Inc. has partnered with Arsenal FC to form Arsenal FC San Diego in Ramona.
“We want to make available to every soccer player in Ramona the high level training and notoriety that Arsenal FC brings anywhere you find an Arsenal FC Team,” said David Jordan, president of Ramona FC.
“What an exciting adventure we are embarking on. We plan to have soccer for every level, and make available the training it takes to help our youth excel to college level soccer and beyond, if that is their quest. With the training sessions we will develop the players through ball mastery, strength and stamina conditioning, weight training, agility, and small sided games, all the while teaching each player the importance of proper warm-ups to reduce muscle and joint injury,” said Justin Jordan, technical director of coaching and soccer operations for Ramona Futbol Club/Arsenal FC-SD.
“Constant movement, with a ball at their feet, this builds confidence in the sport as well as in the player as a person. Through this training we will be using Futsal on an indoor court at Wilson Gym,” said Jordan.
Futsal is a part of the National Direction of Skills Development that U.S. Soccer has instructed U.S. Academy soccer programs to use. Arsenal FC San Diego/Ramona FC has been ahead of the national curve as the club has been and will continue using Futsal training to develop soccer skills.
Ramona FC competitive teams will now compete as Arsenal FC San Diego.
“We can’t imagine what this will bring to Ramona,” said Jordan. “We will have players and families coming to Ramona to play soccer instead of Ramona families traveling to Albion, Surf, Attack, and SDSC, which range from Ocean Beach to Del Mar, and Rancho Santa Fe to Temecula.”
Registration for Arsenal FC San Diego younger teams will be this Friday, March 8, 5 to 7 p.m., at Ramona Valley Grill, 344 Main St. Families registering can enjoy a 10 percent discount on dinner.
