Firefighters battled a hay fire off Dye Road and a wildfire that scorched about 15 open acres near Ramona Sunday, fire officials said.

A pile of hay is on fire at Dye Road and Equestrian Place, Ramona photographer Philip Garnett reports. Report of the fire came at 1:25 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol website, and firefighters remain on scene as the bales of hay burn.

The fire off state Route 78 near Boden Canyon was reported about 12:10 p.m. and was spreading at a moderate rate, according to Cal Fire Capt. Mike Mohler.

Several hundred firefighters from Cal Fire and other agencies from throughout the county were working to extinguish the fire both from the ground and from the air, Mohler said.

The cause of the so-called Boden fire had yet to be determined, according to Mohler.

No injuries were reported, he said.
