Ramona family competes in June Lake triathlon

noname.WEBThe Vail family of Ramona gathers after competing in a triathlon at June Lake, east of Yosemite National Park. From left are: Timothy, 13, parents Tark and Christine, Jocelyn, 10, and in front, 8-year-old Tommy. “This was an awesome experience for the entire family and we all finished the race,” said Tark Vail. He reported that the water was cold — in the low 60s — and the bike ride and run were challenging, especially with the 7,600 foot altitude. “I do agree with June Lake stating ‘one of the toughest triathlon races,’” he added. Tommy and Jocelyn completed a 100-meter swim, a two-mile bike ride and a one-mile run. Timothy, Christine, Tark, and Christine’s father, Steve Canfield, completed a 400-meter swim, eight-mile bike ride and two-mile run. The family is already planning for the next triathlon.
