Update, 5:20 p.m.—

A 22-year-old Ramona male motorcyclist died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident on State Route 78, about .3 miles east of Magnolia Avenue, that occurred just before noon on Thursday, reported California Highway Patrol.

His name has not been released, pending the County Medical Examiner’s report.

According to CHP, the motorcyclist, driving a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650, was eastbound on SR-78 and traveling about 60 mph when he lost control and crossed the parallel yellow lines directly in the path of a 2005 BMW X5. The BMW, driven by a Ramona woman, was also traveling about 60 mph, CHP reported, and the two vehicles collided. Emergency responders said they performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) but he died at the scene. CHP Officer Dan Matthews said alcohol did not appear to be a factor nor any mechanical problems with the motorcycle.

Kimny Heang, 59, the driver of the BMW, complained of pain to the left side of her head and was transported by Ramona Fire Department/Cal Fire to Pomerado Hospital, reported CHP.
