Ramona Relay for Life invites golfers to play in Aug. 2 tournament

Share

Golfers can register to play in the second annual Golfing for a Cure charity tournament that will be held Aug. 2 at the San Vicente Resort to raise funds to fight cancer.

The golf tournament, organized by the Ramona Relay for Life Committee, is the group’s third and final event of the season with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

The first two events, the Relay for Life and Horsepower for Life, which was put on by San Diego Country Estates Association’s Drille Divas, have raised a combined $42,467 to battle cancer — a disease that has touched so many. The Relay for Life Committee calls the response “truly inspiring” and said a successful golf tournament will ensure its goal of raising $50,000 this year.

The golf committee says the tournament has something for everyone.

John Hine Mazda is sponsoring a hole so that a lucky participant could drive off in a new Mazda with a hole-in-one.

The tournament will also feature opportunity drawings and putting and chipping contests, and food will be provided.

The format will be a four-person best ball scramble with an entry fee of 100 per golfer. Anyone can sponsor a hole for $100 or dedicate a hole in honor of a friend or loved one for $50.

For more information or to register, contact Juli Elliott at 760-445-5583 or jules.elliott@live.com. San Vicente Resort is at 24157 San Vicente Road.
