July 4 Fireworks Donations

Ramona Rotarian Bob Vaughn accepts donations to help pay for the July 4 Family Picnic & Fireworks at the entrance to the event behind Olive Peirce Middle School on Independence Day. Vaughn was in charge of a coordinating collections in front of Albertsons, Stater Bros. and Kmart several Saturdays before the fireworks. Donations totaled $8,571.72. Of that, $1,011.79 was donated at the July 4 event.

This year’s festivities cost $26,000. Donation canisters will remain in Ramona businesses through Monday in an effort to meet that goal. As of Friday morning, an estimated $23,500 had been collected from a variety of sources. Donations may be sent to Ramona Rotary Club, P.O. Box 276, Ramona, CA 92065 with checks made payable to Ramona Rotary Fourth of July.
