Dean E. Vogel, president of the California Teachers Association, talks with Mt. Woodson Elementary Principal Theresa Grace in the staff lounge during his visit to Ramona on yesterday, Feb. 27. His first stop in town was Mt. Woodson Elementary, where he visited Jennifer McSparran, Ramona Unified and San Diego County Teacher of the Year, and talked with other staff.

Vogel also stopped at Ramona High School, where he met with the school’s counseling team before attending the Ramona Teachers Association rally outside the school district office in the afternoon. The rally coincided with the California Public Employment Relations Board Fact Finding Hearing conducted by a three-member panel in the district office in an effort to resolve negotiation differences between the district and teachers union. In a statement early this morning, Supt. Robert Graeff said the hearing did not move the two groups any closer to a tentative agreement. The panel has 20 days to submit its findings to the district and the union, after which they will be made public at a board meeting, Graeff said.
